Teaching our young learners to think

with Stefania Ballotto Pilgrims Teacher Trainer, Lecturer at the University of Udine.

Children need to acquire far more than the factual knowledge prescribed by curricula. To do this they need to leave school equipped to face the challenges of a changing world. This practical workshop looks at the skills of learning a language in a new way. The activities are designed to develop both language and the ability to think, putting emphasis on creativity and enjoyment. Learners and teachers are engaged in purposeful use of language while at the same time using different thinking skills in order to complete the task. The activities can be used alongside any course book or teaching programme.

Stefania Ballotto is a teacher, teacher trainer, and trainer of trainers. She is a Lecturer at the University of Udine, Italy, and she trains pre-service and in-service teachers. Stefania has trained teachers in over 15 countries in Europe, Asia and Africa. She has presented at conferences all over the world and has been a Pilgrims teacher trainer for almost two decades.
